About Me
TARA STEINKE, LMFT #137738 (She/her)

Hello, I'm Tara!
I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with an emphasis on trauma studies. I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest where I attended the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in Psychology and Gender Studies.

I'm currently based in Los Angeles, CA. I see individual and couples via telehealth.
I've worked in community mental health, outpatient mental health treatment and in private practice. I view therapy as a collaborative process and believe that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to helping people. As a result, I will use a mix of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic and attachment- based therapy, Polyvagal, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based Approaches, and sex therapy to address each client’s individual needs.

Prior to working as a therapist, I worked for years in the entertainment industry with various film, TV and music artists. I enjoy working with creative types and those in the entertainment industry in the therapy space. I'm also a 500-hour RYT certified yoga and meditation teacher and will incorporate somatic and mindfulness exercises into therapy as needed. Previously, I gained experience as a sexual assault advocate. I have a passion and extensive training to work with those with sexual trauma histories.

When I'm not working, I can be found with my Chihuahua (Homer), hiking, reading, watching film & TV and working on creative writing projects. I look forward to meeting with you!
